white glossy hexahedral crystals or white crystalline powder. Slightly bitter taste (DL-leucine was sweet). Sublimation at 145 ~ 148 ℃. Melting point 293 ~ 295 ℃ (decomposition). In the presence of hydrocarbons, its stable in inorganic acid aqueous solution. Each gram dissolves in about 40ml water or 100ml acetic acid. Slightly soluble in ethanol (0.07%), dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid, alkali hydroxide and carbonate solution. Insoluble in ether.
