Fuction : Ampicillin Sodium is similar to benzyl penicillin in its bactericidal action against sensitive organisms during the stage of active multiplication. It acts through the inhibition of biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptide. Ampicillin Sodium differs in in vitro spectrum from benzyl penicillin in the Gram-negative spectrum. It exerts high in vitro activity against many strains of Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Proteus mirabilis,Bacteroides funduliformis, Salmonellae and Shigellae.
