Applications:
Rutin is a glycoside of the flavonoid quercetin. As such, the chemical structures of both are very similar, with the difference existing in the hydroxyl functional group. Both quercetin and rutin are used in many countries as medications for blood vessel protection, and are ingredients of numerous multivitamin preparations and herbal remedies. It has function of reducing capillary permeability and fragility and also can be used as adjuvant treatment in preventing hypertension.
Clinical use:
Rutin is a vitamin drugs, reduce capillary permeability and brittleness, maintain and restore the normal elasticity of capillaries. For the prevention and treatment of hypertensive stroke; diabetic retinal hemorrhage and hemorrhagic purpura, but also for food antioxidants and pigments. Rutin is the main raw material for synthetic troxerutine. Troxerutin is for cardiovascular medicine, which can effectively inhibit platelet aggregation, to prevent the role of thrombosis.
