1. sarcosine, also known as n-methyglycine, is an intermediate and byproduct in glycine synthesis and degradation.
2. sarcosine is metabolized to glycine by the enzyme sarcosine dehydrogenase, while glycine-n-methyl transferase generates sarcosine from glycine.
