Properties: Crystals from benzene, water, ether, or 50% alcohol. mp 127-128°. Sparingly sol in cold water, more sol in warm water; sol in alcohol, ether, chloroform, in about 2 parts boiling benzene. Sparingly sol in cold benzene. Practically insol in cold petr ether; very slightly sol in boiling petr ether. For soln contg 0.38 g in 25 ml solvent: [a]D +18° (benzene), +60° (alcohol), +73.3° (water).
