Properties: Green plates with bluish luster (from benzene) or steel-blue prisms or plates (from ether + water). mp 144-145°. Slightly sol in water or petr ether; freely sol in alcohol, ether, chloroform, benzene. Dissolves in H2SO4 with a red color, which suddenly changes to violet on warming.
Melting point: mp 144-145°
