Literature References: Sterile soln (pH 7.2-7.9) of a complex of iron, sorbitol, and citric acid, stabilized with dextrin in a dil soln of sorbitol. Contains 50 ±2 mg/ml of elemental iron. Average mol wt <5000. Prepn: Lindvall, Andersson, Br. J. Pharmacol. Chemother. 17, 358 (1961).
Properties: The prepn is hypertonic, stable in serum and rapidly absorbed from muscle, does not produce hemolysis, affects coagulation only at very high concns.
