SPECIFICATIONS DATASHEET THE TARTARIC ACID IS A NATURAL ADDITIVE, BEING USED SO LONG TIME AGO IN A GREAT VARIETY OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS. FOR ITS INOQUITY CHARACTERISTICS TO HUMAN LIFE, IS SPECIALLY USED IN THE ALIMENTARY INDUSTRY, ALL OVER THE WORLD. IN THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY IS THE ADDITIVE NUMBER E-334. THE PRODUCT IS OBTAINED FROM THE REACTION OF CALCIUM TARTRATE WITH SULFURIC ACID, AND PROGRESSIVE DECOLORATION AND PURIFICATION OF THE TARTARIC SOLUTIONS, THEN CONCENTRATION AND THE FINAL CRYSTALLIZATION. MAIN APPLICATIONS: ? PHARMACEUTICAL AND COSMETIC INDUSTRIES: - It is very useful the Tartaric Acid optical activity and its capacity of forming complexes - The mixture of Tartaric Acid and sodium salts it is the base for the effervescent formulations to prepare antiacids, fruit salts and artificial sweeteners ? GYPSUM INDUSTRY: - It is used for retarding the gypsum hardening ? WINE-MAKING INDUSTRY: - It is used for correcting the acidity in the process ? CHEMICAL INDUSTRY: - It is used for preparing tartars and as a chelating agent ?
