Detailed Description: | Phenytoin sodium (GMP)
CAS: 630-93-3 Introduction: Phenytoin sodium is an anti-epileptic drug, also called an anticonvulsant. It was first synthesized by German chemist Heinrich Biltz in 1908. Phenytoin sodium occurs as a white, hygroscopic powder which is freely soluble in water and warm propylene glycol, and soluble in alcohol. Phenytoin acts to suppress the abnormal brain activity seen in seizure by reducing electrical conductance among brain cells by stabilizing the inactive state of voltage-gated sodium channels. Aside from seizures, it is an option in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia in the event that carbamazepine or other1st line treatment is deemed inappropriate. Simcere's Phenytoin sodium API: Simcere's Phenytoin sodium is passed and received SFDA GMP certification in China.
